The 4 Swiss sailors started their trip on their boat “Le Bonavalette” in April 2014 from Basel (Switzerland). Their initial goal is to sail around the world crossing the mythic Northwest Passage through the Arctics islands of North Pole. Only a few sailors have passed this cap since the Norvegian explorer Roald Amundsen in 1903-1906. The Team Bonavalette is also highly concerned about the environment and in collaboration with the Swiss association Oceaneye (http://www.oceaneye.ch), they regularly send water samples back to Switzerland for analysis. The objective of Oceaneye is to understand the oceans pollution due to plastic wastes and to make people aware of this phenomenon.
